Trip #20 Penn Reels 3-day (Sept 12-15)

September 13th, 2019|Categories: Trip Reports|

Good evening anglers,

Today we departed on a 3 day trip sponsored by Penn Reels. Pro-staffer Steve Carson is here with all kinds of giveaways and loaner gear. (Check out Steve’s recent tackle tip here: Your “must-have” outfit!)

We started our day on a nice sonar school of yellowfin that didn’t bite very well. We still managed a few, but then quickly moved on. We kept heading west where we found an area of bluefin and stopped on a nice sonar mark of 30-50lb bluefin These stuck with us until after dark and started biting the flat falls after the sun went down.  We got a nice sample and what a great way to start off our trip.

Here is Mike B. with a 35lb bluefin he landed on 25lb test.

Pulsar 360 3-day Charter (Sept 6-9)

September 9th, 2019|Categories: Trip Reports|

Good afternoon anglers,

This morning we found a school of yellowfin that really wanted to bite. We had phenomenal fishing on these 15-25lb yellowfin. Everyone was able to catch their daily limit on our first stop of the day. Here’s an action shot from our stop, everyone had one on. We’re on the hunt for bluefin this afternoon.

Good evening anglers,

We went in the search of bluefin this afternoon after some phenomenal yellowfin fishing this morning. We located some multiple large schools late in the afternoon that would not bite or stick to the boat. At around 530pm we found one. Almost out of bait, this one was our last shot. This one stuck to the boat. They didnt bite right away but eventually we started hooking some 100lb class bluefin. Here is Peter and Coop with a pair of 100lbers that we gaffed after the sun went down. One on the kite and one on fly lined 50lb. Great way to end our trip.

Pulsar 360 3-day Charter (Sept 6-9)

September 7th, 2019|Categories: Trip Reports|

Good morning anglers

This morning we stopped on a very large school of bluefin tuna and yellowfin tuna mixed at around 5am. As soon as the sun started to come up we started hooking a few. We drifted with them for about 4 or 5 hours and managed to land some quality yellowfin and trophy bluefin.

The sinker rig and the fly lined sardine were the most effective way to catch these fish this morning.  We are currrently on the move looking for more. Here is Mark W. with one of his bluefin from this morning.

Pulsar 360 Charter 3-day (Sep 6-9)

September 7th, 2019|Categories: Trip Reports|

Good afternoon anglers,

We departed on a 3-day trip charter today with 14 lucky anglers. We heard the fish were biting, so we were all pretty excited to leave the dock. About 4pm we found a very large school of bluefin tuna and they started biting almost right away. This 4-hour drift soon turned into a yellowfin bite and they bit even better.

We are very pleased with our first afternoon of fishing.  Here is Jeanne S. with the first fish of the trip, a 35lb bluefin tuna!
