Trip #15 (1.5 day trip) Aug 27-29, 2018

August 28th, 2018|Categories: Trip Reports|

Good afternoon Anglers:

Reporting from the boat on the Let’s Talk Hook-up trip. This morning, we have had great action on school size yellowfin tuna and skipjack. Seas are nice with a great breeze.  Great way to beat the heat inland.Tackle tip for today 20 to 25 lb line and a 2/0 Owner hook, with Coltsnipers and flat falls are very effective. Here is a nice shot of Jacob and John with their yellowfin. Until later tight lines.

Trip #14 (3 day trip) Aug 24-27, day 3, L.A.S.S.

August 26th, 2018|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello anglers,

Our day started off great with steady action on yellowfin and skipjack tuna. We were seeeing plenty of fish and they were responding to the trolling lures.

After lunch we stopped on a couple of spots and had good fish around us, and then a sea lion showed up on both occasions and spoiled the party. It has been very slow since then unfortunately. The ladies are still having a great time and the highlight for this afternoon has been Chef Roger’s sashimi and poke spread. There were fish donated for the cause and it was a hit.

Here is a photo of some happy gals with tuna from this morning.

Hello anglers,

We ended today with a nice stop on yellowfin tuna! Everyone had an opportunity to land a few. Live sardine was the primary method for success. All the ladies had a great time this afternoon. Here is Rene, Sunny and Candy with their yellowfin tuna. We decided to spend the night and try for some more tomorrow.

Trip #14 (3 day trip) Aug 24-27, day 1, L.A.S.S.

August 25th, 2018|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello anglers and anglerettes,

We departed on our annual L.A.S.S. (Lady Angler Searcher Special) today! We got some nice bait at the receivers and we headed to the Coronado Islands, hoping for some yellowtail action. We saw some yellowtail and landed a few with some bonito too. It was a good chance to “wet a line,” get everyone rigged correctly and be familiar with all the tackle details. Here is Izmir M. with a yellowtail landed using a live sardine and 25 pound Izorline. And check out her Seeker Athena rod!

Someone is in their happy place!

We are headed south to try for yellowfin tuna tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Hello Anglers:

Our weather is fantastic today with calm seas and sunny skies! We have had some action on school sized yellowfin tuna this morning. We are seeing plenty of fish. They aren’t biting quite yet. We are hopeful for this afternoon. Happy angler with a yellowfin tuna caught on a live sardine with a Gamakatsu hook. (Note: Gary W. in the picture wearing our sponsor’s for this trip Let’s Talk Hook-up shirt.)

Afternoon update:

We continued to have action on yellowfin and skipjack tuna this afternoon. Everyone had an opportunity to land a tuna today and everyone tagged a few fish. We had plenty of fun today and the weather was awesome. Here is a photo of a group of happy anglers after one of our stops this afternoon.

Thanks to Let’s Talk Hook-up for sponsoring this trip and thanks to Patrick Gee for his expertise at the rail. He did a lot of hooking fish and handing off to people today.
