Trip #6 (July 21- 27) Turners Outdoorsman and Izorline Day 4

July 24th, 2018|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello anglers!

We had some action this morning for catching yellowfin tuna and are getting chances to land a quality fish. The the same methods have proven effective: a 50-pound line set-up and a 2/0 circle hook gets a bite with a live sardine.

Manny Lemos had some help from Capt Art and got lucky enough to boat a fish that was tail-wrapped. It came in backwards and hs fish weighed in at 166 pounds. Manny is posing with this fish of a life time.

Trip #6 (July 21st- 27th) Turners Outdoorsman and Izorline Day 1-3

July 23rd, 2018|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello all,

We started our trip today (6day) and caught a few yellowfin tuna and yellowtail. The fish were caught on live sardines with 50 pound line and fluorocarbon donated by Izorline! We saw plenty of fish in different areas but it wouldn’t bite. Now we just need the hungry fish.  Here is Lori Sachau from Turner’s ourdoorsman in San Marcos with a nice yellowtail!

Thanks to Turner’s Outdoorsman for all the support and the tackle bags for everyone on board. There will be raffles for everyone. Winners will receive rods and reels and lots of other good tackle to use on this trip. Thanks again Turner’s outdoorsman.

Morning report

Hello angler,

This is our 6 day trip sponsored by Turner’s Outdoorsman and Izorline. Low action morning of fishing. There has been a change in weather conditions here and so we haven’t figured out exactly where to be. Yesterdays hot spot is no longer hot. We will continue to work hard and hopefully this afternoon will be more productive. Wish us luck.

Here’s Mike G. a first timer and his first tuna landed on one of our rental outfits. With 50 pound line and fluorocarbon with a 2/0 Owner circle hook. The fish weighed 82 pounds. More to come,

Trip 5 Accurate Open (5 day) July 20

July 20th, 2018|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello from our Accurate Fishing 5-day open charter with Gary Gillingham!

We fished for half a day today looking for kelp paddies. We found some kelps with a few fish associated with them. so we had some action on mixed-size yellowtail and dorado.

Long time Searcher friend, Don Nance, caught a good-size yellowtail from this morning’s action. Capt Mike Todter gets the assist.

The weather is awesome with calm seas and light winds that made for a very enjoyable morning. We’ll be at the dock in the morning.

Trip 5 (5 day) Accurate Open, July 19

July 19th, 2018|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello anglers,

We had some good action today, most of it around mid-day, after a slow start this morning. We had opportunities to catch yellowfin tuna in the 30 -100 pound range. Pictured is Curt P. with a nice fish he landed with one of our 60-pound Accurate “Hook and Hand” outfits.

Everyone has landed at least one fish today and some anglers have been lucky to land 3 or 4 fish. We are departing tonight and heading towards yellowtail and yelowfin tuna area for some fishing time tomorrow. These fish are associated with kelp patties.

Trip 5 Day 3 & 4 (7/18- 7/19)

July 19th, 2018|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello anglers,

We had some action on good size yellowfin tuna today. The primary method was flyline a live sardine with 50 or 60 pound mono with some fluorocarbon to match the mono. Add a 2/0 Owner circle hook and the bait hooked in the belly. The tip for today as it is Tackle Tip Thursday, is to keep track of your bait and slack line, add some patience.

Here is Frank V.  and a nice size yellowfin tuna.

Trip 5 Day 1 & 2 (7/16- 7/17)

July 18th, 2018|Categories: Trip Reports|

Hello anglers,

We  have arrived at our destination. Everyone had a chance to wet a line. There was a sign of yellowtail in couple different areas and little sign of yellowfin tuna. Dave H. from Thousand Oaks is pictured with a 40 pound yellowfin tuna he landed using 50 pound mono and 50 pound fluorocarbon and a 4/0 circle hook.

The weather is great and we are hopeful for later today. Current conditions are in our favor for this afternoon.
