Jun 15 (Jul 13-16) 3 day Pelagic Predators charter

June 16th, 2023|Categories: Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good evening,

We mixed it up today and looked down the coast for yellowtail and had little success.  We caught a few but it was not red hot.
We worked our way back up to the bluefin grounds and rolled right into a boomer school of these 40-100lb fish. We got a pretty good hit here.

We’re headed home now in nice weather.

Jun 15 (Jul 13-16) 3 day Pelagic Predators charter

June 15th, 2023|Categories: Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good morning,
We broke off from the tuna fishing yesterday to seek out some yellowtail, and didn’t find them.  We got back on the tuna late in the afternoon and had a few opportunities in the dark on 80-100# fish.  We managed a few and now we’re back on the hunt for some yellowtail again this morning.
We’ll see what the day brings.

Good morning,
Our fishing last night was as good as it gets on the lures! We saw good sign of bluefin right before dark and saw it all they way up until the sun came up.  Very good sign, very good biting on 40-100# fish.

Jun 11 (Jul 9-12) 2.5 day Limited load

June 12th, 2023|Categories: Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good evening,
We saw a lot of fish throughout the day today but it was very tough to get a bite. We got a quick shot on the school-grade right at sundown.
We drifted after dark and caught a couple more small ones, then the big ones got on us and we started hooking them. We didn’t fare too well, but we did manage to deck a couple more 100lb fish.  We’re headed in now in nice weather.

Jun 10 (Jul 9-12) 2.5 day Limited load

June 11th, 2023|Categories: Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good afternoon,
We arrived on scene last night at about 10pm we had a stop for three 100lb bluefin, and then that was it. We drove around for hours and didn’t like what we were seeing. So we took off around 3am and made a big move. We’re seeing more fish than we’ve seen all year  and we’re picking away at 50-150lb fish right now on the sinker rigs.
Hopefully they’re in the mood tonight.

Jun 8 (Jun 6-9) 2.5 day Steve Savage charter

June 7th, 2023|Categories: Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good evening,
We were able to stay drifting for most of the morning on a couple different stops. It was slow plunking on 20-25lb fish, with light line, small hook finesse fishing.  Very fun morning.
After lunch we lost track of the school-grade fish, so we slid back down to where we were seeing all the fish last night and got on it pretty quickly.  Very impressive sign of this 50-100lb fish. We were not able to catch it though.  We had one opportunity where we got a few bites and we only landed one 90lb fish for our afternoon efforts.
We’ll see what happens tonight.

Good morning,
We  saw very nice schools of 60-100lb fish last night. We had a few good shots it seemed like it was over by midnight.  We’ll see what happens today

Good morning,
We got on scene last night around 10:30 and saw very good sign of 50-90lb fish most of the night. But getting a bite was a different story. We stopped a dozen or so times on large schools, but only managed to catch one fish.
We’re seeing some good schools of these 25lbers now and we’re plunking away this morning.  We’ll check in later. Nice weather and a little bit of biting fish.
