Good morning,

We marked one of our kelps from yesterday with our satelite buoy and hit it a few times this morning  We loaded up on it and took off around noon. The kelp paddy was flying to the south and we’re a long way from home.

We had wide open fishing on 12-20# yellowtail again.  Very fun morning and the weather is nice as well.

Good morning,

We looked locally at some school-grade bluefin tuna yesterday and had no success. So we decided to slide down the beach last night.

We’ve spent our day kelping this morning and have finally found our first biting kelp.  We’re seeing quite a bit of quality dorado and yellowtail on them.  The first few kelps didn’t bite, but the last one did. The yellowtail are 10-25# and the dorado are 8-14#.

Good action, fun fishing, good weather.

Quality yellowtail for Michele!

Good evening,

We had a big day today.  We found a few more kelps that were biting pretty good. It’s the same grade of fish. Very good action on quality grade of fish.  We were catching them every way you could think of surface iron, yoyo lures, fly lined baits, colt snipers .. all of the above.

We’re going to try again in the morning.

Good morning,

We are seeing this yellowfin this morning though they are not biting all that well yet. We have scraped up a few yellowtail and captured a dorado as well this morning however.  Hoping for a shot this afternoon. Tough conditions this morning.

Dorado for Mike!

Good evening,

Things started to look up around lunchtime. We had a good shot at these 18-25lb yellowfin.  They were boiling all around the boat but it fizzled out after we caught a couple handfuls. We couldn’t get another one to go.

Then it fell flat  so we started to work out to the west looking for a kelp. Tough conditions this afternoon. The wind has come down a little but its still choppy.

Good morning,

We made a 80 mile move last night and we’ve been scratching up some quality yellowtail here this morning.  Most of them are 12-15lbs. The weather is a little better,  still a bit choppy but much more manageable.  We are seeing lots of kelps with no fish on them and lots of kelps with non-biting fish on them.  Hopefully we can scratch up some more.

Good evening,

We had a great day fishing these yellowtail today.  We never saw a tuna, but we did have some dorado. Despite the sloppy weather we were able to get some pretty good hits on these yellowtail.  They were primarily 12-20lbs.  We saw kelps with no fish on them and kelps with non biting fish, but when we found one with biting fish, they bit.

Fun way to wrap up the trip after a slow start.

Good morning,

We saw a pretty good sign of 20-40# bluefin last night when we arrived on scene.  They were not interested in biting. We managed to catch a few last night then the sign disappeared at about 3am. We are just getting back on it now.

They’re being bluefin right now but maybe they will want to play later.

Captain Mike and the boys

Good evening,

We looked at these bluefin until the sun went down today. There were  20-100# fish, mostly 40-50#.  We had a handful of bites, and we only managed to land two here for our efforts.  Quite an impressive showing.

We are sliding to the southeast to try and catch some yellowtail, dorado and yellowfin for tomorrow.  It was very choppy out here today.

Good afternoon,

Pretty poor sign of this yellowfin today. We caught one this morning and haven’t seen another one all day. Everyone spread out to try and find it and no luck yet.

We did scrape up a some yellowtail however and captured another dorado. We’re still looking all the time.  \We’re working up the line here and we’re going to have a shot at some bluefin tonight on the way home.

The yellowfin we were catching yesterday all came on fly lined baits on 25-40lb test.

Good morning,

After the poor bluefin fishing we have endured the past few weeks, we decided to run down the beach. We see a little sign of 15-25# yellowfin down here and we’ve scraped up a few.

We’re also seeing good sign of yellowtail on kelps. They are not biting all that well, but we did get a lucky one and had a nice hit earlier. The yellowtail are 5-25#. We also boated our first dorado of the year.

Good evening, anglers:

We ended up scratching up a nice day today. We had action all afternoon on these yellowfin. We dont see a whole lot of it, but the schools we stopped on were biting fish.  It’s a very nice change of pace and hopefully a good sign of things to come.

We’re going to camp out tonight and see what tomorrow brings.
