Hello anglers: Well we decided to stay in the bluefin area another day. It was hard to leave the area and not have another chance at those quality fish. Unfortunately it was a different day today. There were a few fish seen and caught, but nothing like yesterday. Those darn bluefin can be very frustrating at times. We are headed south to try for some yellowfin tuna tomorrow. The weather forecast looks good and the reports are good from other boats in the area.

End of day report:
We drifted until dark with the same school of bluefin tuna. What a phenomenal day of fishing–the quality of the fish, the great weather, and people and the atmosphere with only 14 passengers is awesome. There is so much room on the boat you wonder where everyone is and then you realize are all at the rail. We landed a daily limit of bluefin tuna and we have decided to stay another day and hope we can get lucky and find another school.

Hello anglers: We got lucky this morning and found a school of the 40-60 pound bluefin tuna. We are keeping 1-3 fish hooked all the time. We hope this continues today. Capt Carl assisted on this fish hooked by Richard Yoshioka. It could be a 60-pound fish.

Hello anglers: Today we are having great fishing for 40-60 pound bluefin tuna. The weather is good and we have been drifting almost all morning. The outfit of choice would be 40-pound mono with 40 pound floro carbon and a 3/0 circle hook. Pictured is Capt Aaron with long-time Searcher customer Mas Kaneko from Los Angeles.
Some of you have heard the story of my history with Mas, dating back to the early 70’s when I was very young and just starting out. He and his brother Aki used to charter the New Bluefin back then we had some great fishing then and we continue to have good fishing presently.

Hello anglers: We ended the day with a biting school of 40-60 pound bluefin tuna. It was after sunset and so we didn’t have much daylight to work with. Everyone had another chance at a quality bluefin. We ended up with 46 bluefin for the day. The count doesn’t represent the fishng with heavy losses for various reasons as ususal. These fish are tough. We are spending the night and trying  again tomorrow. Hoping for a repeat, Team Searcher

Hello anglers: We moved north to try for bluefin tuna and we are having some success today. Everyone has had a chance at a 40-60 pound fish. Hello anglers: We travelled down to 200 miles to start our trip. We have hopes of finding some good-size yellowfin tuna and dorado today. The weather is great with sunny skies and calm seas. We are in 70-degree blue water.We found our first kelp paddie and it had a nice school of small yellowfin on it. We released a lot of small fish and kept a few better ones. Pictured is Jodie Escobedo (“There she goes again!”) from Santa Monica and a good-size tuna. We also saved enough fish for a fresh yellowfin tuna dinner. Yummy!

Hello anglers: We have had some tough fishing the past two days. We haven’t found much to work with unfortunately. Today we fished the tuna pens and it was pretty disappointing with the exception of a little  action on 40 – 50 pound bluefin tuna to finish the trip. We landed 7 of those fish. Hello anglers: Finally a little action today! Good yellowtail fishing with the majority of the fish in the 20 pound range with a few bigger and very few smaller. Our primary method is ayo-yo iron on 50-pound test line. A few fish are biting on live bait. We are enjoying this good weather and hoping for more fish this afternoon.
