July 27-Day’s end

July 27th, 2010|Captain Mike's Blog|

Hello anglers, We had excellent fishing for yellowtail today! Most of the fish average about 18 pounds. We caught fish on all methods today, primarily on yo-yo iron with a few fish on live bait (flyline with no sinker) and a few on dropper loops. Not too many on surface iron, but for those who worked at it they manged to land a few. Lots of fun was had by all and we are staying the night and trying here again tomorrow. More then, Capt Art

Hello anglers, Not much in the way of fish so far today, but we did see a bluefin tuna jumping. They weren’t interested in what we had to offer. Sound familiar? HOWEVER we are encouraged by the reports from Cedros island today with good fishing. We plan to be there tomorrow and we’ll get some fish on this deck! On the local scene, there was some good fishing for albacore late yesterday. There is a sign of fish today but they haven’t started to bite yet. Could be an afternoon bite. If you’re interested in 1.5 day trips we have some available starting Aug 3 and another one leaving on Aug 5. We still have plenty of spots available next month. Don’t miss out on a chance to catch an albie! More later, Capt Art

July 26-Day’s end

July 26th, 2010|Captain Mike's Blog|

Hello anglers, We have to take an E for effort today. We had great conditions with lots of bird life, bait and good water temps almost all day. We saw one small spot of breaking bluefin tuna and one really good school of bluefin tuna on the sonar that didn’t bite. The weather is great with very little wind and no seas. The reports from Cedros Island are promising so we are looking forward to some good fishing tomorrow. On the local scene at 90 miles, there was some albacore caught. It sounded like 30-50 fish per boat for the day. Hopefully that holds up for a while and we can take advantage of that area at the end of our trip. More tomorrow, Capt Art

Confused about Mexican permits?

July 25th, 2010|Captain Mike's Blog|

Mexican permits are an additional charge for your fishing trip. If you have an annual permit from Mexico, you can use that on our 1.5 day trips. For 3-day trips and longer, an excursion permit is required. That cost is $73. There is an additional $1 per day on a 4-day and an additional $2 per day for 5 day trips and longer. Still confusing, right? 3-day = $73 4-day = $74 5-day = $80 6-day = $82 7-day = $84 Payment for these permits is due on the day of departure. The permit is issued in your name and held by the captain in bulk during the trip. Call if you have other questions!

Howdy anglers, Today was a lot better than yesterday, we’re catching more fish. The weather has gone from great to good since we had a little breeze today but still very enjoyable. There’s a better sign today which makes it things more promising for our next upcoming trips Capt. Aaron
