Hello anglers, Today (day 1 of our 3-day Shimano/Let’s Talk Hook-up trip) was an excellent day of fishing for small yellowfin tuna. We stayed busy all day with several stops–most of them being troll fish with a few fish on kelp paddies. The majority of the fish are in the 12 pound range with a few smaller and a few bigger. The stand-out fish of the day was landed by Joe Otahal from La Mesa. Joe landed a 47 pound yellowfin tuna on 25 pound test and a live sardine! There were fish caught on live bait, chrome jigs and Fish Trap lures. Everyone had a great time! On top of that, the weather is calm so we are looking forward to tomorrow. Capt Art

Hello anglers, We elected to stay at Guadalupe Island today and fish for a few hours in the morning. The weather was forecast for 20 knots and the thought of working in that for a few smaller yellowfin and bluefin wasn’t too appealing. We landed 16 more of those quality yellowfin tuna and everyone has at least one of those beautiful fish. We are headed home and we are in for 4 days, so look for a report next weekend. Or better yet, sign up for an August fishing trip–it’s pretty exciting out here! Capt Art

Hello anglers, We had a great day today. We landed 61 yellowfin tuna up to 80 pounds with most of the fish in the 50 pound class. We also landed 30 yellowtail in the afternoon. Overall it was an excellent day for our 21 anglers, everyone had a chance at these quality tuna. We elected to stay for a few hours tomorrow instead of heading north. Looking forward to tomorrow, Capt Art

Aug 2-Mid day

Hello anglers, We have had a great morning at Guadalupe Island with steady action on 40 to 70 pound yellowfin tuna. Fly line sardine on 40 pound line, with 40 or 50 pound floourocarbon, has been the key to getting a bite. Everyone but one angler has landed at least one of these beautiful-grade fish and we are working hard to get the last person one of these big tuna! Hopefully the fish will continue to bite a little this afternoon. If so we will have a tremendous day. More later, Capt Art

Hey anglers, Today we started our 4-day trip at 160 miles. We had good fishing on bluefin tunam yellowfin tuna, yellowtail and dorado. The bluefin were in the 30 to 40 pound class and the yellowfin were in the 12 to 20 pound class. We saw a lot of fish today and so things look very encouraging for the future. We are headed to Guadalupe Island tonight to try for those quality yellowfin tuna that we saw last trip. We hope to get everyone a chance at those fish. Wish us luck! We will travel back to the north for our last day. More from Guadalupe tomorrow, Capt Art

Hello anglers, Finished up at Guadalupe Island today for a few hours. We picked up 24 nice-size yellowtail and 1-50# yellowfin tuna. What an end to a phenomenal trip! I can’t remember having fishing this good here. I hope this is a sign of things to come. If we were to do half as well on the future trips to Guadalupe, we would be very happy. Looking forward to next trip, Capt Art ETA is 7:30 a.m. on Friday.

Jul 29-Mid-day

Hello anglers, It’s a mid-day report from Guadalupe Island. We caught just a fewyellowfin tuna this morning. We had nine fish this morning and since it was slower, we decided to head up the island to try for yellowtail. Everyone has enough yellowfin tuna onboard from the last few days! Currently we are anchored and we are catchin 15 to 18 pound yellowtail. We have landed about 25 fish so far we plan on staying here for a while catching a few more. The other boats fishing for yellowfin tuna have hadsome good action since about 10 a.m. Right after we left the area the fish started to bite a little better, like they did for us yesterday. More later Capt Art
