Day’s end report
Anglers: Capt Kevin reported a total of 60 nice-sized albacore for today. The weather is good and there are good signs of more fish in the area–jumping fish, sonar schools, and more. More tomorrow.
Aug 3
Hey anglers, Today we went further offshore looking for some sort of tuna. We headed west of the area we were in yesterday, out in deep water. We saw lots of good conditions but unfortunately we did not see any tuna. We caught six yellowtail for the day. The weather is still great and the forecast looks good for the next week. Capt Kevin is running the next trip, so we’ll get some reports from him. Capt Art

Hey anglers, Excellent fishing today on yellowtail and dorado! All were caught on kelp patties. The majority were caught on flylined sardines, with a few caught on yo-yo jigs. Everyone had a productive day and worked really well together. That helps minimize the tangles! We have great group of guys from Washington and they had a really great day. Hey anglers, We had a slow day on our first day of a 4-day trip. We caught around 40 mixed fish, mostly yellowtail with a few dorado. Things changed a little today. There weren’t as many kelps with fish today as there has been the past few days. We had high hopes for today with the reports from the past two days. The weather is great and we’ll do a little catching up tomorrow. Conditions are good, with almost 70-degree blue water. More tomorrow, Capt Art
July 30
Anglers: Capt Aaron took 31 passengers on a 1.5 day trip. They caught 40 dorado and 37 yellowtail. Harry Davis from Beaverton, Oregon, caught the jackpot fish–a 25# yellowtail.
July 28
Hey anglers, We started our day offshore looking for dorado on kelp paddies. We ran across two good size kelps that had a mix of dorado and yellowtail. Everyone had a good time catching 8-15 pound dorado and the yellowtail were 15- 25 pounds. We released all the yellowtail that were less than 15 pounds. Another great day on the ocean with no wind and calm seas! We fished until just after lunch and then called it a trip. And what a great trip–we caught fish on the four days we fished which is unusual. What really made the trip was the weather which was calm the whole time. It doesn’t get any better than that. Captain Aaron is taking the next trip out so hopefully he will have good fishing as well. More next trip, Capt Art

Hey anglers, We had another good day of fishing at Cedros Island. Unfortunately it didn’t last as long today as it did yesterday. The good thing is the grade of the fish is the same–25- 40 pounds. They are beautiful fish and lots of fun to catch. All the same methods are working today. The weather was fantastic with sunny skies and calm seas. We are headed north to try our luck on kelp paddies for dorado. More tomorrow, Capt Art
July 26
Hey anglers, Today was one of those days that you hope to have on a 5-day trip–great weather, calm seas, sunny skies and good fishing. We had excellent fishing on those big yellowtail in the 25-40 pound range. Most of them caught on flyline sardine opn the surface. A few fish were caught on the surface iron. It is really exciting to have a few of those big fish chase your surface jig, boil on it and then eat that jig right in front of you. Matt Rohrs from Placentia had three yellows on five casts to start the day and he said we can go home now. That is what he came for! We elected to stay another day with the albies off the bite a little. There were not many yellowfin tuna caught by other boats today. We are going to try for some greenback mackerel tonight I’m sure those yellows will love them. More tomorrow, Capt Art
July 25
Hey anglers, We left on another summer 5-day trip yesterday. Today we travelled south towards Cedros Island. We had a great day of fishing! Most of our catch came from kelp paddies. We kept 85 yellowtail with most of the fish being 15-30 pounds. We released 20 fish under 15 pounds. We did see a few yellowfin tuna in the 15-20 pound range on the kelps. At the end of the day we landed a 15-pound dorado. Bernie Rubalcalba from Escondido was the lucky angler catching that dorado. The weather is great and we are looking forward to tomorrow. The reports from Cedros were pretty favorable so we hope to have a good day on those quality yellowtail. Capt Art
