Lori Sachau, Turner’s Outdoorsman Saltwater Tackle Manager at the San Marcos, CA store, offers a way to get started with saltwater fishing without “breaking the bank.” Options include a conventional reel with a level-wind and one of Turner’s own rods, or a saltwater spinning reel with the Turner’s rod. This tip will help any beginner dip a toe in the wonderful world of saltwater fishing for lots of fun targeting yellowtail, rockfish, calico bass on your first half- or full-day trip!

SPONSOR SHOUTOUT: Penn Fishing

January 11th, 2022|Captain Mike's Blog|

We are fortunate to have Penn Fishing and pro-staffer Steve Carson as sponsors of Searcher Sportfishing. Penn Fathom reels are the “work horses” of our loaner tackle arsenal. Make sure to let the land crew know when you book if you’d like to use our loaner gear.

Anglers who fish with Steve Carson know that his knowledge about saltwater fishing tackle is almost limitless! But he is also just a great person to fish and share the rail with.

Tackle Talk at Inland Saltwater Angler Club

January 8th, 2022|Captain Mike's Blog|

We had a great time at the Inland Saltwater Anglers Club meeting! Club members fish a LOT and had great questions about San Diego fishing for Capt Art. They also had an amazing raffle with loads of tackle giveaways.

Art did a review of drag settings which we are sharing here:

Dry Dock Time!

December 7th, 2021|Captain Mike's Blog|

Every other year we coat the propellors and propellor shafts with a product called Prop Speed. It protects them and helps with fuel efficiency.

It’s time for Searcher’s annual dry-dock at Al Larson Boat Shop in San Pedro, CA.

Team Searcher and the yard staff will be giving our girl much-deserved TLC over the next two weeks.

Stay tuned for updates on upgrades and maintenance we’ll be providing.
