Good morning anglers,
We had a opportunity on the jumbos again this morning just after the sun came up. We hooked 7 or so of these 170-200lb plus bluefin on the sinker rigs and the lures.
Incredible sign of these big bluefin very tough to land. We did manage a couple though.

We’re seeing good signs here, but struggling to get bites. We’ve still been scratching on the sinker rigs however. All the fish we’ve caught today have been on 80lb sinker rigs and 50lb fish and larger.

We’ve been scratching at the 50-125lb bluefin all day. Most of the fish have come on long drifts on the sinker rig on 80lb test. We’ve hooked some on lighter gear but have not landed them.
We got flashed right before dark and started hooking them on the flyline as well. We also had a little opportunity on the flat falls right after dark on some jumbos but failed to land any of them.

Good morning anglers,
We had a few big fish in the dark last night–100+lbers–but it was not all that red hot. We were seeing massive spots of this 40-60lb grade bluefin all morning but with very little catching success. At about 10 am we slid into a large flat spot and then we had them boiling all around the boat and eating 50lb in the corner. It’s a pretty nice change from the non-biting fish we’ve been dealing with for the past couple weeks. Here is with a sample of what we’ve been catching all day.

We’ve got on another school here this afternoon and we’re plunking on these 40-60lb bluefin now. It’s a good sign with lots of bites and lots of smiles and high fives from the anglers. Fly lined 50lb with a #2 circle hook and some flurocarbon to match has been the key to success here today.

Good afternoon anglers,
We’ve scratched a few of mixed-grade bluefin this morning, They’re still not biting very well, but they are acting a little different. It seems like they’re starting to respond to the bait and stick to the boat and boil around a bit now.
We broke up the morning and did a little kelping. We were pleasantly surprised and had some good action on 12-18lb yellowtail. Everyone caught a few. We’re back in bluefin mode now and hoping for a flatfall bite this evening.

We are seeing a very good sign of fish here this evening. We have some tonnage laying under the boat right now. We are very surprised we are not all hooked up and fighting a fish, but we are patient.
We have got a few bites on the flat fall. Hoping they turn on soon.

Hello anglers,
We had some opportunities last night on 100+ pound bluefin. There were plenty of fish around and if you spent time at the rail you had a chance at a nice one. With all the bigger fish coming at night, we recommend resting a little during the day so you have some fuel in the tank for fishing at night. It takes time and work at the rail it to get a bite. We are hoping for more chances this evening.

Kevin got his personal best with a 175 pound tuna on a flat fall at sunrise
Hello anglers,
Timing is everything in fishing! We had tough conditions last trip with wind and tuna that wouldn’t bite. Our first night on this trip we had very good signs of tuna and great weather. We landed two tuna: one at 100 pounds and one at 50 pounds, with plenty of opportunities to catch more. We are seeing good signs of mixed size fish from 20 pounds to 100 pounds so far this morning.
The fish pictured was landed using 80 pound line and a flat fall lure with 200 pound leader.

Hello anglers,
It was very slow fishing today. We have seen numerous spots of bluefin tuna throughout the day and night. But we haven’t found a spot that will stay with us. We have loads of time left in our trip and we will continue searching for the right school. The weather is workable with diminishing winds this evening and tomorrow morning.

One lucky angler landed a tuna on a live sardine and a 12 ounce sinker rig.
Good morning anglers,
We arrived on scene here at about midnight and started seeing fish right away. It was pretty tough for us to get a bite on the flat falls in the dark. Since then we’ve been scratching away a little bit. We had one long drift that started in the gray. The fish we’re seeing and catching right now are 50-200lbs, with a few 20lbers as well. The biggest one we’ve landed was 184lbs. We lost a bigger one at gaff and have had multiple heart breaks. That’s bluefin fishing! Anglers are fishing 80lb but our casualty rate is still pretty high due to tangles, bite offs and pulled hooks.

Good evening anglers,
We scratched away all day on mixed grade bluefin. The majority of them were 50-180lbs with some smaller ones mixed in. The majority were caught on the sinker rig on 80lb. We see good sign in the dark here of 100lb+ fish, but the anglers are burnt out and we only have a few people fishing. We’ve got one of these 100 lbers, with only a couple anglers fishing. We still have a good sign of fish. We’ll check back in the morning,

Good morning anglers,
We’re still seeing good sign of these 40-180lb bluefin here again today. It’s been pretty tough to get a bite, but we’re scratching away here. All of the fish we’re catching today are coming on the sinker rig and the shiny lures primarily the yoyo lures. We’re hoping they turn on this afternoon and start snapping. We also had a few on the flat falls before the sun came up.

We scratched up a couple more handfuls of bluefin this afternoon. Most of them were the 50lb class but we did land a few more big ones as well. All but one came on the sinker rig on 80lb test. We’re just starting to get on the fish again. There’s a very good sign right now. We currently have one heavy hanging, and good fish swimming around the boat.
Hoping to sack up a few more tonight before we have to go home. (photos to come later today!)
