Jim brought his son, Nicklas, on a 4-day trip in early July on their first west-coast trip ever! Jim qualified for the SONAR promotion because he brought Nicklas, a first-time angler to Searcher Sportfishing.

I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be the Searcher SONAR 2016 winner! My son and I had a fantastic time and created life long fishing memories. Special note of thanks to the Searcher Captain and crew and all the great sponsors! ! We hope to see you all soon for another great offshore trip!

Howdy anglers,

For our last day of fishing for the 2016 season, we had just a little action catching a few yellowtail on our way home. The weather is good and we’re happy to have a nice ride home.

And they’re “off and running” on Searcher Sportfishing’s last trip of the 2016 season! It’s an awesome way to finish strong by having Gary Gillingham aboard for this trip. He’s our favorite pro-staffer with Accurate Fishing Products and Seeker Rods. Captain Aaron is at the helm with 24 anglers who are anxious to get to The Ridge and try their hand at a wahoo.

Anglers are even more challenged to win jackpot on this trip–Accurate and Seeker have donated a Boss Fury 500 reel and two rods for the winners!

Father and son, Thom and Jimmy Carney, depart on a trip together. We are always happy to have family aboard!

Gary Gillingham (white shirt, big wave) is a terrifc pro-staffer for Accurate Fishing Products and Seeker rods. Passengers and crew love him–Thank you, Gary!

Trip 30 (7 day) Oct 15-22 Ultra-limited load

Trip 30 with only 14 anglers aboard is off and running today, en route to The Ridge! Anglers boarded early and some started their wahoo tackle preparations right away. Others relaxed (getting ready for a fishing trip can be hectic!) and got to know each other.

Lines were away by 9 a.m. and off to get awesome bait from Everingham Brothers Bait company.

We were only missing one of our favorite customers.Walt–take care and stay tuned to this spot for news on the “kids!”

Another ultra-limted load trip, limited to only 14 passengers–everyone gets a private cabin–is off and running! This time it’s a 6-day trip and Capt Art is heading south to The Ridge.

Good-bye, Kim!

Passengers, including our dear Searcher friend, Kim D, were pretty excited at that news. Getting to fish The Ridge on a 6-day trip is awesome!

Another angler, Wayne G, pinned an old name tag on as soon as he boarded the boat. Wayne fished our boat 43 years ago, when it was named Cape Polaris and was operated by Bill Poole. Welcome back, Wayne!

Our annual fall 7-day trip was booked with lots of Searcher Sportfishing regulars so anglers greeted each other bright and early yesterday morning! Here’s the perfect opportunity to use all the valuable gear collected in between trips. Exciting!

Hello anglers,
We departed yesterday on our annual 6-day trip sponsored by Penn University with pro-staffer and saltwater tackle expert, Steve Carson. It’s always a pleasure to have Steve aboard. He brings so much swag for anglers and crew, along with exciting new gear to try out from Penn.

We travelled yesterday and will travel again all day today. We are headed to The Ridge which is a long way to go, but based on the reports from that area, we should be in for an opportunity for some good fishing.We will arrive Friday before lunch.

Today will make good use of our travel time for tackle seminars and lots of rigging-up in order to be ready for arrival to the fishing area. And of course, we’ll have more raffles and giveaways, thanks to Steve and Penn.

Capt Aaron displays the new 2-speed reels anglers can use aboard Searcher. (Nice hat and shirt too!)

We are very grateful to Steve Carson and Penn for the generous gift of 5 FATHOM 40 2-speed reels to add to our collection of Penn reels on board. We’ll be able to loan out these 2-speed reels to anglers!

We loaded them up with spectra and 40 -50 pound line and can’t wait to use them this trip, in the hands of our anglers.

Four anglers on our current trip need loaner gear this trip and Steve Carson is setting them up with Penn equipment from the many outfits he has brought. I’m sure those 4 people will consider purchasing some new Penn gear after this trip.

Friends from San Diego Rotary, regular customers of Searcher Sportfishing, a Turners Outdoorsman rep, and anglers new to Team Searcher all boarded on Monday afternoon to head to the tuna grounds. Wish them luck!
