Trip 20, Ryan Bussell Invitational, July 12-15

Good afternoon,

Our first night we experienced steady bluefin fishing, picking away at good grade tuna all night for a total of 25 bluefin most over 100 for our 18 anglers. We then spent the day at the banks trying for yellowtail, although slow we managed about ten nice sized yellows for our efforts. After a couple good cod drifts, we headed back to the bluefin zone. Last night was much slower tuna fishing, only catching about ten. We’re now anchored up trying for yellowtail one last time before heading in.

Good morning,

Very good opportunities on the big ones again last night. Lots of stopping and lots of bites. World class bluefin tuna fishing.  The guys have had enough catching all these bluefin so today we’re going to see if we can catch.

Good evening,

Searcher set out Tuesday for trip 19, Denio’s Charter with Knee Deep Brewing Co. Last night was as good as it gets as far as opportunities on these big ones. Though it was choppy, and the conditions were tough, the fish wanted to bite, and we definitely got our shots. This morning we started seeing them again and hoping for another shot.

Good afternoon,

Over the past few days we’ve been seeing good signs of mixed-grade fish weighing between 40 and 200 lbs. They were very difficult to work with during the day, but we’ve been getting our shots and capitalizing on our opportunities after sunset.

Trip 17, 4th of July Special, July 3-6

July 5th, 2024|Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good evening,

Trip 17, 4th of July Special, July 3-6, 2024. We have had good opportunities the past two nights on the big fish. 120-220 pounders have been reeled on the boat.  Both nights we had our shots right after dark. This big fish zone is pretty far from home so we’re making a move this afternoon to get closer to home and see what else is available.

Trip 15 – June 28 – July 1

June 29th, 2024|Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good afternoon!

We saw good signs last night with 50-100lb fish throughout the night. They were hard to catch but we had a couple opportunities late in the evening/early morning. Saturday, we took a break from the bluefin and have been seeing good signs of yellowtail. Though they have been challenging to catch, we have caught a couple good ones! Still at it. Still fishing.

Trip 13 – 3 Day Limited Load 6/24/2024

June 24th, 2024|Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good morning,

We spent the last 24 hours searching for larger grade fish to wrap up our trip. Yesterday afternoon, we saw impressive signs of 50-150lb fish and went from spot to spot. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get any bites, though we hoped our luck would change after dark. When night fell, they all vanished and we never saw a scale. That’s just how it goes sometimes. We’re looking forward to getting some revenge soon.

Trip 13 – 3 Day Limited Load

June 23rd, 2024|Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good morning,

We had nonstop action throughout the night, scratching away on 20-60 pounders. There was a lot of stopping and going with plenty of bites. Tons of fun! When the sun rose, we went searching for bigger fish. We spotted some, but not enough to stay in that area, though it felt like more were nearby. With good weather on the horizon, we’re hopeful to get back on the meat.
