Trip Report
Trip 29 (6 day) Oct 8-14 The Ridge
Hello anglers: We had a great start to the day with calm seas and sunny skies. We arrived on The Ridge at 9 am and started trolling for wahoo. We landed a few and lost a few, typical for wahoo fishing. There is also a sign of yellowfin tuna here.

This morning’s photo shows two of our Searcher family passengers: Thom C and Paul S from Ventura. Both of their fish were landed on wahoo “bombs.”
Nine out of the 14 passengers on board have a wahoo and some have their first wahoo ever! Hoping for more this afternoon.

Hello anglers,
We had a great day of fishing with everyone landing at least one wahoo! That was our goal for this trip and we did on day 1. Everyone is smiling tonight! We also had some action on yellowfin tuna up to 20 pounds.
Long-time Searcher family member, Kim D , is pictured with one of her wahoo today.
Most fish today were landed using live bait and a wire leader with 40-50 pound test line and a tight drag.
Looking forward to tomorrow with the sign of fish we saw this afternoon.

October 2-3
Hello anglers: Yesterday we had some tough conditions with strong winds and large swell. Before the wind we were able to have a little action on good size yellow tail. And then the wind came up, so we had to stop fishing.
Today we have no wind which is a pleasant surprise! We are catching some yellowtail on the coast. We plan to can continue until lunch time and then we will put this trip in the books for another year.
Today’s photo is of Capt Art and Ron Bryan AKA “CLICK” and a nice-size yellowtail caught on a dropper loop rig and a live bait.

The crew makes everyone feel so welcome. They go up and beyond making sure everyone is having a good time, helping with tackle setup and overall making sure everyone one is having fun.
Cooking was on point every meal! Deckhands are always there to help you out with your setups. They take the time to answer everyone’s questions while staying on top of their game. Just overall make it feel like an amazing experience, as well as a family.
Every crew member, including Mike and Josh, was very willing to teach us new techniques and how best to fish the targeted species. The working relationship among the crew was outstanding. It is a pleasure to see men enjoy their job and work so well together. Keep up the great attitude and spirit.
Your operation hires solid crew members that make the trip fun. Catching yellowtail on the iron while listening to music in the sun was the highlight of my trip.

Best run operation I’ve ever been on as far as desire of captain and attitude/ teamwork of the crew.
The crew is top notch. Mike knows how to fish hard and find the fish. Josh puts out 5 star meals every meal. The deck crew is always attentive to what’s happening on deck. They want to help with a great attitude and they all work together and get along great. The whole operation is smooooth.
They did everything possible to make it a successful adventure for everyone willing/able to participate.
