Trip 1 Jackpot Results : Congratulations to the winners!
Also pictured: Accurate pro staffer Gary Gillingham with his catch, a 34# BFT!
Hello anglers,
We fished San Clemente again today. Very slow fishing for us. We tried yesterday’s hot spot and unfortunately the fish didn’t bite. We fished for rockfish for a while to get some table fare for everyone and then we spent the last few hours in the spot where we had a few yellowtail the day before. We saw some fish and landed a few.
Jake Brookman landed this yellowtail using one of our Accurate/Seeker Hook and Hand outfits. 30 pound Izorline with a Owner live bait hook and a live sardine. Capt Aaron Remy gets the assist on this fish.
Jake also won the raffle grand prize of an Accurate reel and a Seeker rod! Thanks to Accurate products and Seeker Rods for their support. Our anglers benefit from these valuable partnerships.
Heading in for an early arrival June 25. Keep posted for Jackpot report.

Hello anglers,
After 10 am today fishing was pretty slow, and although we tried various spots, the conditions weren’t conducive for yellowtail. We tried for some rockfish and they didn’t want to bite either. We finished the day back in the morning spot where we had seen good signs of yellowtail. We saw a few fish and landed a couple. Dave from Murietta landed this yellowtail in the afternoon.
We did all enjoy Chef Charley’s famous BBQ rib dinner with all the fixins’–potato salad, cornbread, mac and cheese — yum!
Hoping for better fishing results tomorrow. Check back for a report.

June 22: To start off our first trip of 2017, we loaded good-looking sardines. The weather forecast looks good too. We headed out to the tuna grounds for the afternoon and saw a few fish. They weren’t biting, except one made a mistake and Gary Gillingham, pro-staffer for Accurate Products hooked and landed a 35-pound bluefin tuna on a knife lure. He used the butterfly method with an Accurate rod and reel. R2 and Gary are pictured with the fish in the bow.
June 23: We traveled overnight to San Clemente island so we would have a chance to anchor and fish. We have seen and caught a few yellowtail this morning. Roger Brookman landed a yellowtail hooked by Capt Art on one of our Accurate/Seeker “Hook and Hand” outfits. Many thanks or the rod and reel combos from Jack Nielson and Rick Hult. We have put them to good use.
Aaron Lasley from Simi Valley (below with Capt Ryan) landed a yellowtail too. Aaron is here thanks to his family for a Father’s Day gift.

Since 1990, the Berkley Conservation Institute, with the help of anglers everywhere, has recycled more than 9 million miles worth of fishing line. That’s enough line to fill two reels for every angler in America, or wrap around the Earth’s equator 361 times!! If left in the environment, discarded fishing line becomes a potential threat to wildlife. The Berkley Conservation Institute turns this hazard into a real benefit to fish and fishing, through the production and distribution of Fish-Habs.
Fish-Habs are artificial, underwater habitat structures made from recycled monofilament fishing line and line spools, along with other post-consumer materials like milk cartons and soft drink bottles. The Fish-Hab attracts fish and encourages plant growth almost immediately, providing the natural cover essential to the growth of a healthy fish population.
Searcher Joins the Efforts
Retailers and marinas have provided their support by displaying over 17,000 recycling collection bins. This year Searcher Sportfishing is proud to join these efforts! Throughout our 2017 season, you can find the bucket pictured on the right to deposit your used monofilament fishing line.
Team Searcher will recycle the line stripped off our loaner outfits, as seen at left. At the end of the season, we will mail all of the line we’ve collected directly to the Berkley Conservation Institute.
If you have additional line you’d like to send, mail it to:
