Trip for the novice OR expert LADY angler in your life!

March 20th, 2016|Captain Mike's Blog|

Our August 26-29 offshore tuna trip for women is attracting lots of attention! The top manufacturers and tackle companies are supporting the idea that more women want to get into tuna fishing (if they haven’t already)–Izorline, Accurate, Seeker, Turner’s Outdoorsman, XtraTuf, and Pelagic are all adding giveaways and promotional items.

For example, XtraTuf is donating a pair of boots to each lady angler on this trip!  Bootz-approved!

Spread the word to the women in your life and we’ll take them fishing! Expert instruction from Wendy Tochihara and Lori Sachau, and we’ll fundraise for “Go Red for Women” heart health awareness. Win-win for all!

2015 SONAR winner receives his prize!

March 12th, 2016|Captain Mike's Blog|

John Melton, of Camarillo CA, stopped by the Fred Hall Long Beach Fishing and Tackle show to collect his prize. John’s name was drawn at the end of the 2015 season and won a Shimano rod/reel combo and a free spot on a 3-day trip aboard Searcher!

Want to get your name into the 2016 SONAR drawing? Bring an angler with you, a Searcher first-timer, on your 2016 trip (3-day or longer). We’ll give you a thank-you gift upon departure AND add your name into the year-long raffle for the rod/reel and trip. You can “Bring a Friend and Win” like John!

Capt Art Taylor congratulates John Melton (right) on his SONAR win at the Long Beach show!

Many thanks to all our SONAR sponsors, including Shimano. The 2015 donation was a Shimano Trinidad 16A reel and an 8-foot, Inshore series Terramar rod.

shimano trinidad 16A
Shimano Trinidad 16 A is the perfect reel for lighter to medium line applications for small to medium sized saltwater gamefish. The Trinidad A is Shimano’s finest star drag reel and should be included in every saltwater anglers arsonal. The spool size and line capacity is exactly the same as the original Trinidad series. The frame and sideplates have been made more compact which gives the reel a much smaller overall size and weight, but exceeds the performance of the original Trinidad.”

terramar

Shimano offers saltwater anglers extremely durable rods for West Coast techniques with the new Teramar WC series. Offered in 13 bait rods in 7- to 9-foot lengths, a jig stick and five inshore swimbait models, they feature Shimano TC4 blank construction with a ‘Techtape’ outer wrap to shield the fibers from impact damage.

SEARCHER FRIENDS: send me your guesses! ( email to jen@searchersportfishing.com ) by midnight PST Apr. 18, 2016.

(quoted from March blog post)

Did you see Bootz at the Long Beach show?  He had a blast posing for photos with our Searcher friends!  But as soon as the show ended, he took off for his next adventure. When Bootz isn’t on the job as our Searcher Sportfishing official spokesperson, he’s vacationing in some interesting destination!

As you know, during this off-season he’s been sending the Searcher Office regular updates about his travels, but his communications have always been incomplete!

We need the help of our Searcher friends to figure out his location!  He really had us guessing during Round Three…

Are you ready for Round Four?

Here’s a photo of Bootz at his fourth stop:

Send in your guess via email, with “Where’s Bootz?” in the subject line to jen@searchersportfishing.com

Correct guesses submitted will be entered into a monthly drawing for a prize!

Our February winners received tickets to the 2016 FRED HALL FISHING TACKLE & BOAT SHOW in Long Beach!

This month’s drawing winner will be selected from all correct guesses submitted by midnight, APRIL 18, 2016.

New Bait Tank Status Report from Captain Art!

March 3rd, 2016|Captain Mike's Blog|

Hello anglers!
We have an exciting update to share about our new bait tank, which will be installed in time for the 2016 fishing season! We have done quite a bit of research looking at other tanks around the fleet and we have come up with what we feel is a great bait tank! Notable improvements include new hand wells on the port and starboard side that are bigger, so multiple anglers can access hook bait at once rather than having to wait in line for a bait. We won’t be using scoops or baskets with the new tank.
Our capacity will increase slightly, not sure yet how much but we will have more bait aboard!
There will be more room in between the rail and the tank on the sides.
Also we will reconfigure the fish box to each side of the tank which will make things operate better to get your fish in the RSW quicker!
Check out the schematic of the new bait tank – we will update with photos as construction progresses!
Lots of improvements this off-season – we’re excited!!!
