Trip 15 Aug 13-18 Ultra-limited Load (5-day) Aug 14 mid-day report

Howdy anglers,

Great day on the ocean today: we have had some great schools of hungry yellowfin tuna and the ocean is flat as well. Here is a sample of some of our fish caught by father/ daughter team John and Tania Warner.  The best method today was on live bait using a 2/0 hook on 30lb test.  Hoping for some more action this afternoon.

More later,

Trip 14 Aug 8-13 Accurate (5-day) Aug 12 PM Report

Hello all,

We gave it our all today, we were driving around before daylight to find the temperature edge so when it was daylight we would hopefully be in the right spot. We had a stop on yellowfin tuna first thing and then a lull for a few hours. We saw fish that wouldn’t bite. A few fish associated with common dolphin again but only a few. We had some action around lunch time for a few fish and then another lull in the afternoon with a few fish late in the day.

We had hoped for a lot more fish but it just wasn’t in the cards for us this trip. Steve Lenker from San Pedro landed this yellowfin tuna today. Thanks again to Accurate products for all the goodies this trip. Gary Gillingham is always a pleasure to have on board.

Back tomorrow morning,

Capt Art and Team Searcher

Trip 14 Aug 8-13 Accurate (5-day) Aug 12 Report

Hello anglers:

We are in the yellowfin tuna zone today with high hopes for some well-deserved action. We have paid our dues with the weather and the fishing so far this trip.

Today it is calm and we signs of yellowfin tuna. Mike W. caught this good-size tuna from a stop this morning. He is a Searcher first-timer, but has lots of long-range experience.

Trip 14 Aug 8-13 Accurate (5-day) Aug 11 Report

Hello anglers,
We traveled north all night and this morning to get back up to the tuna zone. The weather has improved so we’re happy about that, but we don’t have much good fishing news.

We located a herd of common dolphin that had a school of yellowfin tuna associated with it. We are seeing fish and signs of fish, but they aren’t hungry for what we have today. We will continue to work hard and hopefully it will pay off tomorrow.

Trip 14 Aug 8-13 Accurate (5-day) Aug 10 AM Report

Hello all,

Shortly after arriving in the yellowtail zone, Ben Van Camp from Riverside landed this good size yellowtail. We are hoping for more like it this afternoon. The weather is calm and sunny –  which is a good thing compared to the weather and tough conditions we had yesterday.

More later,

Trip 14 Aug 8-13 Accurate (5-day) Aug 9 PM Report

Hello all,

We left yesterday on our annual 5-day trip with Accurate Fishing Products and pro-staffer Gary Gillingham. Thanks again to Accurate for all the great support! We are really pleased with the load of sardines we received at the bait receivers! Lots of familiar faces on this trip, it is great to see all of our old friends again. We were also able to have a little pre-trip dockside raffle with prizes generously provided by Doug Kern of Fisherman’s Landing Tackle Shop. Check out the photo – Who wouldn’t be this happy to win a flat-fall?

We started in the yellowfin tuna zone early this morning. The fishing was great there yesterday. We hoped for a repeat, but unfortunately it didn’t happen.

We caught a few for a sample, but not nearly what we had hoped for. We are headed south to the yellowtail zone and will arrive there tomorrow mid-morning. We hope for a repeat of last trip.

More tomorrow,

Team Searcher

Trip 13 Aug 3-8 Braid (5-day) Aug 7 Morning Report

Hello all,

We fished for a few hours this morning for yellowfin tuna. We managed to get a few fish, we saw a school of fish on the sonar and they bit for a short period. If you had a bait in the water, you had a chance. It didn’t last very long but we did enjoy it. Here’s Dave Swanson with his yellowfin.

Headed home –  arriving at 7am tomorrow.
