Trip 5 Let’s Talk Hookup Jul 9-11 (1.5-day) July 10 Report
Hello all,
We have had an action packed morning so far! We are out with our first Let’s Talk Hook Up 1.5 day trip. The weather is outstanding with calm seas. Our first kelp paddie produced good action on small yellowtail. Everyone had multiple chances to land a yellowtail and I think most everyone did.
Our next kelp produced a few dorado! Lee Muncie from Seal Beach landed a nice dorado! Long time Searcher client Dave Nearing landed a dorado as well. Crewman Ryan Lindahn gets the assist. Tom P from LTHU sports the advertising for Pete Gray.
(July 10 Afternoon Report Follows)
Plenty of action this afternoon!!! Everyone had a great time catching yellowtail with a few dorado as well. The crew did an awesome job locating kelp paddies today. Mindy Smith from Huntington Beach landed this dorado. She got some great instruction from the crew today and it paid off. Mindy used 25 pound line and a 2/0 hook with a live sardine.

Trip 4 (3-day) Jul 6-9 Evening Report July 8
Hello anglers,
Another challenging day on the ocean. Fish that don’t bite was the theme this trip. We managed to land a few small yellowtail, red rock cod, and a couple of good size yellowfin tuna today. Conditions are great with warm clean water with lots of life in it. If and when some fish move into the area we fished today they will certainly stay a while. Lots of food.
Long time Searcher client Tim James from Westminister landed this nice yellowtail from one of the many kelp paddies we looked at today and yesterday. Tim and his brothers Chuck and Tom have been clients for a long time. Always great to have repeat customers annually.

Trip 4 (3-day) Jul 6-9 Evening Report- July 7
July 7, 2017
Hello all,
We worked our tails off today with plenty of kelp paddies to stop and try for yellowtail. Plenty of yellowtail was seen but not a lot caught. We did land our first dorado of the season! The water is warm in the area we fished today. 69 degrees in spots. Hoping for better results tomorrow, we will let you know how it goes.
Good Night,
Team Searcher
Trip 4 (3-day) Jul 6-9 Seeker Open – Day 2 mid-day Report
Hello anglers,
We came south last night about 50 miles. Currently we are trying to catch yellowtail on kelp paddies. We have seen several kelps this morning, some have fish on them and some don’t. Unfortunately, the kelps that have fish on them are not biting. Other boats in the area have had some action, so we are hopeful for the rest of the day.
The weather is awesome with light winds and just a little sea condition. The sun is out now so it has turned into a beautiful day. Jimmy Bon from Green Valley landed this good size yellowtail (on a live sardine and 30 pound line) during one of our stops today.
More later,
Team Searcher
Trip 4 (3-day) Jul 6-9 Day 1 Trip Report
Hello anglers,
We left today on a 3 day trip sponsored by Seeker Rods! Pro staffers Sophie Huynh and Kevin Boyle are aboard with loads of Seeker swag and knowledge to share with all of our valued clients. We are really grateful for our partnership with Seeker Rods!
We have a great load of sardines and we are hopeful to put them to use.
We started in the tuna area 25 miles southwest of San Diego. Unfortunately, the fish we saw did not bite for us. The highlight of the day was the Seeker swag and the weather. It was a great day on the ocean.
Hoping to get busy tomorrow.

Trip 2 (Jun 30-Jul 4) July 3 Report
July 3 (Mid-day)
Howdy anglers,
Another beautiful day here on the ocean. Once again we tried for some more yellowtail but we were lacking current, so fishing was slow.
Here is a photo of Gerry H with his yellowtail.
We are all hoping for an action-packed afternoon.

July 2 Evening Report
Howdy anglers,
Unfortunately we never got current yesterday and although we managed to hook a few yellows – the wildlife took them away. Here is a sample of the nice grade yellow that we saw: here’s a photo of Sarkis K with his catch.
The weather is fantastic, and we’ve got another day to try.
