Trip 29 (6 day) Ultra-limited load to The Ridge
Hello anglers:
We travelled all day today, with only a little time to fish due to weather. We really enjoyed the good weather the rest of the day! Movies and baseball were entertainment for some, others enjoyed the ocean ride home.
We are ready to go back to “The Ridge” next trip.

Trip 29 (6 day) Oct 8-14 The Ridge
Hello anglers,
We finished our day yesterday with some action! We caught yellowfin tuna up to 20 pounds, with the majority of the fish averaging 15 pounds. Live sardines were the bait of choice, with 30-40 pound line and a 2/0 J-hook. The tuna fishing was a lot of fun and a great way to finish an awesome day.
We are headed north tonight to the coast.

Good morning anglers!
We have had phenomenal wahoo fishing this morning! Everyone has had multiple chances to land a good-size wahoo. John L caught on right at sunrise.
Capt Art has been hooking and handing back in the stern with some success. Kim D from Elk Grove, CA is posing with crewman Ben Hart and one of the wahoo she landed today.
This one is on one of our “Hook and Hand” outfits–a 50-pound Accurate 2-speed reels and a Seeker rod. The outfit worked great! Thank you to Accurate and Seeker!

Good afternoon anglers,
We’ve had great wahoo fishing again today so far. Most of the fish are landed using live bait and a wire leader. There’ve been a few yellowfin tuna caught as well.

Trip 29 (6 day) Oct 8-14 The Ridge
Hello anglers: We had a great start to the day with calm seas and sunny skies. We arrived on The Ridge at 9 am and started trolling for wahoo. We landed a few and lost a few, typical for wahoo fishing. There is also a sign of yellowfin tuna here.
Click here for some wahoo info!
This morning’s photo shows two of our Searcher family passengers: Thom C and Paul S from Ventura. Both of their fish were landed on wahoo “bombs.”
Nine out of the 14 passengers on board have a wahoo and some have their first wahoo ever! Hoping for more this afternoon.

Hello anglers,
We had a great day of fishing with everyone landing at least one wahoo! That was our goal for this trip and we did on day 1. Everyone is smiling tonight! We also had some action on yellowfin tuna up to 20 pounds.
Most fish today were landed using live bait and a wire leader with 40-50 pound test line and a tight drag.
Looking forward to tomorrow with the sign of fish we saw this afternoon.

A dorado bite
We haven’t seen significant dorado fishing this season, but anglers on Trip 28 had some action on the last day. Janice Krause captured a few and sent this photo!
Trip 29 (6 day) Oct 8-14 The Ridge
Hello anglers:
We are travelling south all day today and are headed for The Ridge. We arriving there Monday morning. Our goal is to get some action on yellowfin tuna and get everyone a wahoo. (Click WAHOO for an article about wahoo fishing.) So today we’ve been working on getting ready: a tackle seminar and time to get our gear rigged properly.
Our seminar covered all the bases from trolling, live bait and casting lures and wahoo “bombs.” The crew helped everyone get rigged after the seminar–lots of wire leaders needed.
We have awesome weather today with calm seas and overcast skies to keep it cool. We are planning a movie matinee this afternoon with popcorn and Red Vines for everyone.

Wednesday/Thursday
Hello anglers: We had some action this afternoon on some nice yellowtail. There was no current until late this afternoon, but we had some time to fish.
The weather is coming down and we’re happy about that for our travel north to look for fish offshore.

Hello anglers:
We had some action this afternoon on kelps with some small yellowfin tuna and some dorado. Here is a sample of the dorado that we caught by Bo H. We’re gonna spend the night here and fish for about half a day before we call it a trip.

Friday
Hello anglers: We just finished our trip offshore and are now headed for home. We found a kelp this morning that had some dorado, so we had some action before calling it a trip. The weather is very nice. We’ll be at the dock tomorrow morning.

Tuesday/Wednesday
Hello anglers: We started on the beach today looking for yellowtail. Unfortunately the conditions rolled over and the water got 7 degrees colder and greener than the day before. So we continued down the beach hoping for better conditions, but had the same results. So now we are headed offshore hoping to find some warmer blue water to fish this afternoon
Capt Aaron and the Searcher crew
Hello anglers: It was a tough day here fishing for yellowtail. However, we had a little bit of action this morning and we have scratched a couple at each spot that we have tried today. The weather is getting better all the time and we’re happy with that. We’re hoping for an action-packed afternoon
