June 22: To start off our first trip of 2017, we loaded good-looking sardines. The weather forecast looks good too. We headed out to the tuna grounds for the afternoon and saw a few fish. They weren’t biting, except one made a mistake and Gary Gillingham, pro-staffer for Accurate Products hooked and landed a 35-pound bluefin tuna on a knife lure. He used the butterfly method with an Accurate rod and reel. R2 and Gary are pictured with the fish in the bow.
June 23: We traveled overnight to San Clemente island so we would have a chance to anchor and fish. We have seen and caught a few yellowtail this morning. Roger Brookman landed a yellowtail hooked by Capt Art on one of our Accurate/Seeker “Hook and Hand” outfits. Many thanks or the rod and reel combos from Jack Nielson and Rick Hult. We have put them to good use.
Aaron Lasley from Simi Valley (below with Capt Ryan) landed a yellowtail too. Aaron is here thanks to his family for a Father’s Day gift.
