Hello anglers:

We made our way to the beach from Alijos Rocks last night and arrived a little offshore at daybreak. We looked for kelps for no success, and continued to fish some high spots along the beach. We managed some fun fishing at our first stop on some wonderful grade tuna and yellowtail. We made a couple drifts and continued up the coast.

As the sea state continued to decrease anglers got a break from the rocking and rolling the night before. Our last stop of the day was a lucrative one and anglers had fun fishing on all sorts of inshore species with plenty of yellowtail to go around. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset and with the calm seas ,we plan to spend the night on the anchor and try again tomorrow.

Nov 10 (Nov 6-14) 8-day Limited Load

November 10th, 2023|Categories: Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Hello anglers:

We spent the night last night at Alijos Rocks in hopes that conditions would improve and improve they did. Shortly after trolling around for a while for ‘hoo, we stopped to put the anchor down and had some incredible fishing on 30-50 pound yellowfin tuna. Most anglers were able to tag what they wanted and many were giving away they fish. A

lthough we only managed one wahoo for the day, we had some opportunity on some amazing grade yellowtail. These 30-50 pound yellowtail were caught on all sorts of methods: yo-yo, flyline and dropper loop all worked. We tagged around 20 of those amazing specimens.

We are now headed in to fish the beach tomorrow to catch some more yellowtail and round out our trip.

Hello anglers:

We arrived at Alijos Rocks today around 9:30 and spent the day targeting wahoo and tuna. With lack of current and unwilling fish, we only managed 7 wahoo and about 20 tuna. We made the best of the less than perfect conditions and are going to spend tonight on the bank and try again tomorrow. With better weather in our future, we are hopeful for tomorrow.

Nov 8 (Nov 6-14) 8-day Limited Load

Hello anglers:

Action packed day today!

We started off the day on the beach fishing yellowtail and after spending a few hours searching for fish that wanted to play, we found them. The anglers were treated to fantastic yellowtail fishing on 10-18 pound fish. Everyone tagged a handful or what they wanted before moving on.

We continued offshore in search of tuna picking off a handful at a time. Late afternoon we found a nice school and it was on! They were 18-40 pound yellowfin with practically the whole boat bit at times. The fish continued to bite even after anglers had what they wanted or were too tired to pull on anymore.

Excellent end to an excellent day. We are now headed out to Alijos Rocks to search for and catch some wahoo. We should arrive late morning.

Hello anglers:We caught some wahoo this morning then went grouper fishing for no success. We are headed up the coast to target yellowtail before heading home.

Nov 4

That’s a wrap! We managed to scratch some yellowtail for everyone today to top off their bags. We are going to have dinner behind Isla Cedros and put it on course for home. Happy anglers and another great trip!

Hello anglers:

We managed another solid morning on the wahoo, and trolled up ten for our efforts before putting down the anchor to tuna fish. Tuna fishing was much better than yesterday. It’s an incredible grade of fish and solid plunker-style fishing with not much by-catch. Everyone has close to what they want to keep, so we picked up the anchor and will spend the rest of the day trolling around for more wahoo. We already have a few more for our efforts.

We tried a couple anchor drops for a few yellowtail and yellowfin tuna. We will be spending the night and trying again for wahoo in the morning

Hello anglers:

We arrived on The Ridge this morning and were stopped shortly after arrival to a wahoo strike! We looked around for that better tuna but couldn’t seem to locate any that wanted to bite. Around lunchtime we picked up the anchor to troll around again and have had a few stops since then.

We have 15 wahoo onboard for our day so far and every angler has one. The people are stoked! We are gonna continue to troll and try and locate tuna before moving down The Ridge tonight.

Hello anglers:

Our morning started off very slow. We fished the same zone we had been fishing weeks prior for nicer grade yellowtail for little success. We scratched a few for our efforts.

We left around 11  a.m., making our way south where we ran trolled into some very good yellowfin fishing. Nice grade 20-30# fish and plenty of opportunity. Anglers are warmed up and we will be on The Ridge tomorrow.
