Jul 7 (Jul 6-9) Seeker Rods Open with Sophie

July 8th, 2023|Categories: Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good evening,
Continuing our 3-day Seeker Fishing Rods open charter, we were off the fish until late in the afternoon. It didn’t look good until about 3 p.m. We started seeing a good sign of 25-100# bluefin and we got a few shots at them. Very fun fishing this afternoon!

Jul 6 (Jul 6-9) Seeker Rods Open with Sophie

July 7th, 2023|Categories: Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good evening,
We left the dock on our 3-day Seeker Fishing Rods open charter. The fish made a move out west throughout the day and we finally got on them right before the sun went down. We got a good shot on 20-50lb mixed bluefin and yellowfin.  Fun fishing, hopefully it holds up!

Jul 5 (Jul 4-6) Let’s Talk Hook-up!

July 5th, 2023|Categories: Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good afternoon:

We’re on our Let’s Talk Hook-up sponsored 2-day trip with CCA’s Wayne Kotow as host. Giveways were distributed and we got down to business.

We headed out west last night to where we have been fishing and we didn’t stay very long. We stopped on a few decent schools for no result. It didn’t seem right. We made the decision pretty quickly that we were not where we wanted to be.
We ran back in 70 miles and we’ve had a few decent opportunities in mixed yellowfin and bluefin this morning. We’re not seeing a whole lot right now, and are looking for another stop. The fish are 20-40lbs

Jul 2 (Jun 30-Jul 3) 4th of July Special

July 2nd, 2023|Categories: Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good morning!

We had some fun fishing last night. We scratched all night long–from sun-up to sundown–on 60-150lb fish.  Short stopping, we never went long without stopping the boat and catching 1-5 at a time. We saw a lot more than we saw last night and yesterday.
The sun’s up now and we see them, though they’re a lot harder to catch.

Good afternoon,
We’re tried to go yellowtail fishing this morning and it didn’t work out, so we’re back out doing some bluefin tuna watching now. There’s a lot to look at but they’re a little hungover.  We have managed a few bites but they’re not coming on the boat.

Jul 1 (Jun 30-Jul 3) 4th of July Special

July 1st, 2023|Categories: Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good morning!

We had a good opportunity right when we arrived on scene last night on 60-150lb bluefin tuna. They were good biting fish, and even though they got the better of us we still managed to score a few.

We saw good sign the rest of the night but couldn’t catch it. Nice weather we’ll see what happens today.

Good afternoon!

We’re seeing some good schools of 60-100+lb bluefin. There’s a little bit of opportunity to flyline a  sandine but they’re tough to land on the 50lb. We’re boating a few here. Still calm weather and a bit of biting fish, so we are enjoying the day.

Jun 29 (Jun 27-30) 2.5 day Limited load

June 29th, 2023|Categories: Captain Mike's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good Morning,
We landed on the fish right before dark and there were a lot around!  We had good action last night on medium-large grade fish. We left just after midnight since we got what we wanted as far as bluefin goes. We’re going to try catch something else today.

Good evening,
Fun island fishing today with a few shots at some big yellowtail. We saw a fair sign of 25-30# yellowtail, but they were hard to hook and harder to land. Plenty of other miscellaneous to go along with it. Nice weather.

Good morning,
It took us all night to locate the fish, but when the sun came up there was some very good fishing on 20-50lb fish locally.  Good flyline sardine fishing.
We got our fix on these, and now we’re making a move to try for some bigger ones tonight.

Good evening,
WE made a 70-mile move mid-day in hopes of finding bigger fish tonight. We’re hoping it pays off. We have a few on the boat and a few hanging now. These are 60-100# fish.
