Mid-day report July 31

July 31st, 2014|Captain Mike's Blog|

howdy anglers: What a morning! Wide-open yellowfin tuna fishing here ! We have our day’s limit of yellowfin tuna out of ONE stop. The weather is very nice right now with a little swell, but no wind. We’re leaving here and gonna go look for kelps with some dorado, so wish us luck.

Here’s a sample of the fish we’re catching today with Bob Blum and his grandson Adam Broscow of Cypress,CA.jul 28-aug 2 blum:broscow

Tip of the day: When the fish are biting and many people have a fish on, it is best to keep your cool when getting in tangles. Stay in front of your fish, as best as possible.

July 29th, 2014|Captain Mike's Blog|

Capt Aaron wasted no time getting over 90 tuna on the boat the same day the boat left! Today, his mid-day report is 84 mixed tuna aboard in US waters (70 yellowfin and 14 bluefin). The weather remains excellent. Wendy Tochihara (Izorline rep) and Kyle Lee (Bass Pro Shop rep) and their “regulars” must be enjoying their first few days at sea.

Howdy anglers: Today was a different day for us. We didn’t catch much but the weather is still very good, so we’re going to enjoy our ride home. We’re coming back out for 5 days, so wish us luck! Good angling and hope to see you on the water soon, Capt Aaron and Searcher crew

Tackle tip: When using the same rig for multiple fish, it is very wise to change your line. It’s a very cheap investment to not lose fish.

July 26

July 27th, 2014|Captain Mike's Blog|

Howdy anglers, The fishing was awesome today and the weather was very calm, almost no wind all day long and the forecast looks good too. We had a very good mix of yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna and some yellowtail, most of the day fishing in US waters. We’re going for fish tomorrow again, so wish us luck!
Tip of the day: Using circle hooks, especially fishing for bluefin, are crucial. It took a little convincing or people to use them after they were getting bit off. Here’s a sample of some tuna caught by father and son Joe and Troy Jacques of Hemet, CA.
Good angling and hope to see ya on the water soon,
Capt Aaron and the Searcher crew
