Hey anglers, This morning we had 4 hours to fish for albacore and bluefin tuna. Another boat had good fishing for both species yesterday and so we ran out to the area from Cedros. We arrived at daylight and had a jigstop right after. We caught six albies and two bluefin. We had 6 or 8 more stops for a total of 41 albacore and 3 bluefin tuna to finish our trip. Not too bad for four hours! We had a lot of fun with regulation albacore fishing–meter marks and boils in the chum, resulting in jig stops and bait fish. A great trip to start 2009! Hey anglers, Awesome yellowtail fishing again today! Most of our fish were caught in the morning and we didn’t have to work too hard for them–meaning the fish were on the surface and easier to find than yesterday. The conditions were just right with almost no wind or sea, and the fish wanted to bite a little. Once again live sardine and yo-yo jig was the primary method. I think that everyone has enough yellowtail onboard. We don’t have full limits but that is OK. We accomplished what we’re trying to do by getting action for everyone and putting some fish in the well. The good news is that there was some albacore and bluefin tuna caught today by another boat so things are looking up for tomorrow. We will be in the area at daylight and will have the morning to try for some tuna. Our weather is flat, calm now and the forecast looks good. More tomorrow, Capt Art

Hey anglers, We had a great day at Cedros Island today in spite of the tough conditions (20-30 knots of wind) for most of the day. We had good fishing for 14-18 pound yellowtail, with steady action for most of the day. The majority of the fish were caught on live bait with a flyline rig of 30 to 40 pound line and a 2/0 hook. There were a lot of fish caught on the blue and white yo-yo jig and 50 pound line. We had a great dinner and everyone is looking forward to a good night;s sleep and another good day of yellowtail fishing. More tomorrow, Capt Art

Hello anglers, It’s great to be back on the water trying for fish again. We spent the day offshore looking for albacore, bluefin tuna and yellowfin tuna. We didn’t have a lot of success today but the encouraging thing is there are a lot of scattered fish spread out over a big area. Albies were caught 50 miles apart today and in between, with a few yellowfin tuna mixed in. We landed seven albacore and three yellowfin tuna, and the high boat had about 15 albacore today. All the fish we caught today were at least 20 pounds so that is a good sign. We are headed to Cedros Island tonight to fish for yellowtail. There have been some good catches made in the last week there. Looking forward to tomorrow, Capt Art

Anglers: Our Searcher turned 39 years old last month and I am starting my 25th year owning and operating her! I’m optimistic about our season and looking forward to getting out today with a great group of anglers. We will be checking the albacore area and looking for yellowtail at Isla Cedros.
