Howdy anglers, We are headed home from another 1 1/2 trip and our weather is still amazing–little to no wind and very little swell. We’re happy with the fishing too. We fished for yellowtail and dorado on kelp patties today and there’s no shortage of kelp out here. Finding a kelp with fish that wanted to bite was a different story, but we’re happy with our catch of the day–56 yellowtail and 20 dorado. We leave on another 1 1/2 day trip tomorrow afternoon and we will be back out there looking for some more action. Good angling and good luck. Hope to see you on the water soon! Capt. Aaron

Howdy anglers, Today was a great day for us in all aspects! The weather was calm and the fish were biting. A variety of fish were captured today including dorado, yellowtail, yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, and even skipjack tuna. We fished kelp patties and breezers (fish swimming right along the surface) of both dorado and yellowfin tuna. We are headed back to the dock from our 1-1/2 trip with limits of dorado, 58 yellowtail, 10 yellowfin, 2 bluefin, and 3 skipjack. The yellows were up to 30 lbs, which will take jackpot. Tip of the day: When fishing dorado, it’s is best to spread out. When fish are jumping and there is a lot of excitement on deck, try to remember to stay calm and to enjoy it. Hey anglers, We travelled all day today to get up to where there was some yellowfin tuna yesterday. On the way we tried several kelp paddies. Only two of them produced. We had some excellent dorado fishing on the last kelp paddie of the trip and everyone had a good time. Although it was quite hectic everyone got enough dorado today. This has been a great trip with great people and fantastic weather with calm seas and no wind. We had alot of fun and, oh yeah, I forgot we had great fishing too!!!! The boat is scheduled for three 1.5 day trips next and Capt Aaron will get his first shot of the year tomorrow. If you are interested in trips next month we have lots of openings and the fishing is going to be great. You will have a chance to catch three different kinds of tuna, dorado and yellowtail. Another great morning of yellowtail fishing at Cedros Island! We have 70 good-size yellowtail aboard. It’s been a steady pace with 2 or 3 fishing hooked at a time. The hot lure has been a Salas X — sardine color. More later, Capt Art

Hey anglers, Excellent fishing for yellowtail at Cedros Island today. The majority of the fish are 15-16 pounds. The most popular method is yo-yo iron–blue and white or something close to that color. A few fish were taken on surface iron, dropper-loop and flyline sardine. Most people have their limit for the day and we are headed to a different area for the afternoon to concentrate on bigger yellowtail. More later, Capt Art

Hey anglers, This afternoon wasn’t as productive as this morning. The fishing slowed in the area. We moved over closer to the island to try for some of those quality yellowtail that are around here. We managed to land 22 of 30-40 pound fish this afternoon and that all came from one spot. They bit for just a short time and then they vanished. This trip we are very lucky to have aboard a former sportfishing owner and captain Joe Dunn. Joe turns 88 years young this year and both me and Kevin Ward had the pleasure of working for Joe in the past. This afternoon Joe hooked and landed one of those nice big yellows. He was the first one to get a bite when the big fish showed up. Imagine that… Also onboard with us is another former sportfishing and commercial fisherman Bob Jason and his son Bobby Jr. Bob was responsible for giving yours truly my nickname “Clicker” back in the early 70’s. Back then Bob owned the charter boat New Bluefin. I started working there with Bob’s brother-in-law and currently one of our captains, Kenny Merrell. Needless to say there has been some serious reminiscing and lots of laughs. More tomorrow, Capt Art

Hey anglers, Today we fished offshore. We looked for yellowtail and dorado on kelp paddies. We saw several paddies but only a few had fish on them. We landed 35 yellowtail and 7 dorado for our efforts today. We also caught a 15-pound bluefin tuna on the troll. We are headed for Cedros Island tonight and will arrive tomorrow morning early. We will have two days to fish there. On the local scene there was some albacore seen and caught around 100 south of San Diego by some of the boats so hopefully that fish stays up and biting for a while. More tomorrow, Capt Art

The last day’s report didn’t come through, but they had 36 albacore, 3 yellowfin tuna, and 2 bluefin. All the Idaho guys got an albacore, which were all in the 30-37# range. The jackpot fish was a 37.2# fish. See the jackpot details at: https://searchersportfishing.com/trip_reports.asp.
