Trip 27 Sep 24-Oct 1 (7-day) Sep 26 PM Report

September 26th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello all,

Slow conditions to report this afternoon. We decided to go a little further south and try for more wahoo. It had been a few days since this spot had any boats on it so we hoped for the home run. We have decided to head back up to our first spot for tonight and tomorrow. Here’s Kevin Justen with a nice wahoo he landed on a live sardine.

More tomorrow,

Trip 27 Sep 24-Oct 1 (7-day) Sep 26 Midday Report

September 26th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello all,

Made our first stop of the trip at 10 am, and we are not seeing the same sign of tuna that has been seen the past few days. There are a few wahoo around with a few fish hooked and lost, but we’ve landed 5! Long time Searcher customer Jim Hartwick from Ojai landed this nice wahoo on a bomb. Also pictured is longtime customer Kevin Justen at the hand wells.

More later,

Trip 27 Sep 24-Oct 1 (7-day) Sep 25 PM Report

September 25th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello all,

A great day on the ocean today with light winds and very little sea condition. Everyone spent time rigging this morning and we hope we are ready for tomorrow when we arrive at our first stop. It looks like we will get there mid- morning, so we will have plenty of fishing time.

Capt Ryan has a birthday this trip and we decided to celebrate it tonight since we are travelling and the weather is good. Hopefully we will be too busy fishing to celebrate on his birthday (Thursday). Ryan’s mom Vicki is an awesome baker and Ryan’s favorite dessert is her famous mud pie. Vicki sent 3 giant mud pies along for this trip and everyone really enjoyed it. Here’s Ryan wishing for fish.

Trip 27 Sep 24-Oct 1 (7-day) Sep 25 Midday Report

September 25th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello all,

We are travelling today. We will be arriving at our first stop before lunch tomorrow. After breakfast we gathered in the galley to discuss terminal tackle for wahoo, tuna, and yellowtail. Tangles are a big topic because we try to limit them. Fishing with live bait and drag settings are key topics as well. The most important topic is to use the crew as a resource for info. They will be helping people all day with the rigging process.

Capt Art is pictured with a rod and reel combo and a wahoo bomb.
