Howdy anglers,

We had just a little action on yellowtails today:  they were around, but not interested in what we had to offer.  On the other hand, we did get to get in on some “good as it gets” calico bass fishing for a couple of hours trying to hook a yellowtail.  We’re gonna head offshore tomorrow in search of some yellowtail and dorado. Here’s a pic of Bo and Jim on deck, enjoying the weather. It’s really nice to have such a small group of nice people aboard.

More later,

August 15th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Howdy anglers,

Slow morning here, we’ve been looking for yellows – the conditions are great but there is a lack of fish, so we’re gonna try several spots to find something to catch. Ben thinks we’re gonna get on something good soon.

More later,

Trip 15 Ultra Limited Load Aug 13-18 (5-day) Aug 14 PM Report

August 14th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Howdy anglers,

We had a fantastic day on the water today fishing for yellowfin tuna.  This afternoon we had some really good action – they were also biting all sorts of artificial lures, as seen in the picture with Ben Uy with a Hook and Hand Program Accurate reel and  Seeker rod, using a 100gram Colt Sniper.  We have great weather and we’re gonna try for some yellowtail tomorrow for the day.

More tomorrow,

Capt Aaron and Team Searcher

Trip 15 Aug 13-18 Ultra-limited Load (5-day) Aug 14 mid-day report

August 14th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Howdy anglers,

Great day on the ocean today: we have had some great schools of hungry yellowfin tuna and the ocean is flat as well. Here is a sample of some of our fish caught by father/ daughter team John and Tania Warner.  The best method today was on live bait using a 2/0 hook on 30lb test.  Hoping for some more action this afternoon.

More later,

Capt Aaron and Team Searcher

Trip 15 Ultra-limited load (5-day) is off and running!

August 13th, 2017|Captain Mike's Blog|

On this warm and beautiful Sunday, August 13, the 14 passengers on this ultra-limited load trip boarded Searcher in an orderly, organized fashion and this continued as each angler went to find their own personal stateroom. The 5-day trip began with Capt Aaron driving the boat away from dock at 12:20pm, on his way to the bait receivers to pick up some quality bait from Everingham Bros. for our small group of passengers ready to “get fishin’ during this 5-day vacation on the water. We will be posting Capt Aaron’s regular reports from the fishing grounds, check back tomorrow!

Trip 14 Aug 8-13 Accurate (5-day) Aug 12 PM Report

August 12th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello all,

We gave it our all today, we were driving around before daylight to find the temperature edge so when it was daylight we would hopefully be in the right spot. We had a stop on yellowfin tuna first thing and then a lull for a few hours. We saw fish that wouldn’t bite. A few fish associated with common dolphin again but only a few. We had some action around lunch time for a few fish and then another lull in the afternoon with a few fish late in the day.

We had hoped for a lot more fish but it just wasn’t in the cards for us this trip. Steve Lenker from San Pedro landed this yellowfin tuna today. Thanks again to Accurate products for all the goodies this trip. Gary Gillingham is always a pleasure to have on board.

Back tomorrow morning,

Capt Art and Team Searcher

Trip 14 Aug 8-13 Accurate (5-day) Aug 12 Report

August 12th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello anglers:

We are in the yellowfin tuna zone today with high hopes for some well-deserved action. We have paid our dues with the weather and the fishing so far this trip.

Today it is calm and we signs of yellowfin tuna. Mike W. caught this good-size tuna from a stop this morning. He is a Searcher first-timer, but has lots of long-range experience.

Trip 14 Aug 8-13 Accurate (5-day) Aug 11 Report

August 11th, 2017|Trip Reports|

Hello anglers,
We traveled north all night and this morning to get back up to the tuna zone. The weather has improved so we’re happy about that, but we don’t have much good fishing news.

We located a herd of common dolphin that had a school of yellowfin tuna associated with it. We are seeing fish and signs of fish, but they aren’t hungry for what we have today. We will continue to work hard and hopefully it will pay off tomorrow.
