July 25, 2017
Hello all,
We travelled south all day yesterday to get to the good fishing grounds. We had calm seas and good conditions all day. We didn’t catch anything of note but there is good tuna fishing on our bow tomorrow.
We have had a sample of yellowfin tuna and dorado here this morning so far. Looking forward to some more action today. Lori Sachau from Turner’s Outdoorsman in San Marcos landed this yellowfin tuna on the troll.
more later,
Team Searcher

Hello anglers,
Glad we kept on fishing into the late afternoon – Wendy T. and Dave Sachau hooked these nice dorado after a great day of fishing on day one of our 5-day trip.
Headed south, more later,

Hello all,
Back out on a beautiful ocean. Lots of clean blue and warm water within 60 miles of San Diego. We headed to an area where there was a sign of good size yellowtail on kelp paddies. The first kelp we stopped on had a nice size fish that Willy Lewis landed – a 20 pound yellowtail.
Leaving the kelp, we put out the trolling rods and we had a bite right away: Bob Bower landed a nice dorado. So we have a sample of things to come… Not giving up yet (as of 6:30) Heading south all night and all day tomorrow to get to good fishing.
More later.
Capt Art and Team Searcher
Anglers were early to rise this morning so they could arrive at Fisherman’s Landing for early check-in for Searcher‘s Trip 10, the annual Izorline/Turner’s Outdoorsman 5-day.
Pro-staffers Wendy Tochihara and Lori Sachau were the first to board, with their cart overflowing with gear, giveaways and swag for our lucky anglers!
The boat departed at 8:40am to load up on bait. Capt Art called in to report they got some nice-looking sardines and that they were headed for some Day One fishing! Check back here for daily reports from the field!
Team Searcher is dedicated to supporting our local fishing community, including the efforts of the San Diego Anglers Foundation. Earlier this year we donated a trip to their annual banquet to help raise funds for their critical programs, like Warriors on the Water. This program provides disabled military personnel the opportunity to reconnect with their families through an adaptive, community based recreation experience – saltwater fishing! Learn more about the program below, and consider donating to this worthy cause.
About the Program:
“In partnership with the Armed Services YMCA San Diego and the Department of Defense, the San Diego Anglers Foundation is proud to offer free of charge saltwater fishing adventures to disabled military personnel and their families.” This program is “an adaptive, community based outdoor recreation experience, and gives [service members] extra therapeutic support during their recovery period.”
“Numerous studies have shown that traumatic events not only affect the psychological structures of the self, but also the attachment and meaning that link individuals and their families. This program seeks to restore those disconnects, allowing military members a chance to have social interactions and bond with family members, while enjoying the sport of fishing.”
