October 25: Capt Aaron Special, day 2

October 25th, 2015|Captain Mike's Blog|

After a departure with passengers dressed in camoflage (Capt Aaron’s favorite color) and sporting Capt Aaron face masks (in preparation for Halloween?), Capt Aaron got down to the important business of selecting bait and navigating south towards Alijos Rocks for our 25 anglers. Also aboard is Gary Gillingham of Accurate Fishing products as sponsor and trip host.

Here’s Capt Aaron’s quickie report from today:

Howdy anglers: Today was a travel day but I gave a tackle seminar to get everyone on the same page. Once everyone was rigged up and understood the game plan, we had a football tailgate party for the afternoon (hot dogs and fixings, Capt Aarons’ choice) with the game on in the galley. We will be looking for a kelp tomorrow before we start fishing for wahoo. Wish us luck!

The weather is very nice…hoping it stays like this forever.

Howdy anglers: Nothing to report for our efforts yesterday afternoon, but we did find some yellowtail action this morning before we had to call it a trip! The yellowtail were 12-15 pounds and most were caught on the dropper loop.

We’re headed home and then coming back out for our last fishing trip of the year. Currently the weather is good and the forecast looks good too.
Good angling,

Howdy anglers: We’re headed up the line tonight with a few wahoo and some really nice yellowtail. The wahoo fishing was a bit slow but the opportunity was there if you spent the time at the rail. Here’s a picture of Arturo Jacinto and Capt Ryan Stahl with the last wahoo caught before we had to head up. oct 24-31 arturo wahooThe weather might show us some mercy tonight too.

Oct. 21, 2015 – Good Morning, Yellowtail!

October 21st, 2015|Captain Mike's Blog|

Howdy anglers,
We had an awesome early bite here on yellowtail: really nice grade of fish, 20-35 lbs.
All on dropperloops to the bottom – they were hitting.
As the sun came over the horizon, we got a couple of wahoo and have been able to slowly pick a wahoo here and there… so we’re hoping for more fish before we head north for the night.
Here is an example of the yellows we caught this a.m., this one was caught by Dorman Austin of Miraloma, CA.
Wish us luck!
