Hello anglers: Another great day on the water! We had some fun today looking at quite a bit of yellowfin tuna spots. We had the same results with plenty of troll fish and a few bait and artificial lure fish. We didn’t manage to find a good kelp today and so we will concentrate on that tomorrow. We hope the tuna fishing is as good. The weather is awesome with very little wind. Today’s photo is of Evan and JP McFetridge from Huntington Beach with their yellowfin tuna from one of the many stops today.jul 2-6 mcfetridge

July 3 report

Hello anglers: Today we had beautiful weather with light winds and not much swell. The fishing was great with plenty of action thoughout the day until about 5:30 PM. We had plenty of stops with yellowfin tuna on the troll. Zuker root beer and cedar plugs were hot today. We had a few fish on anchovies with 1-ounce sinkers and a few fish on artificial lures. We had a good stop on yellowtail on a kelp paddie and everyone had multiple chances at a yellow. Yo-yo lures donated from Tady lures helped out a lot. Many thanks to Tady lure for co-sponsoring this trip each year. We are spending the night and trying our luck again tomorrow. Hopefully the fish we saw will bite a little.
Today’s picture shows long-time Searcher family Howard Folmer and his fishing buddy JJ who is new to the Searcher. Each caught a nice yellowfin tuna.

Jun 30-1.5 day trip report

Hello anglers,
We had a great day today with plenty of action–yellowtail on kelp paddies and sonar schools that didn’t bite but gave us hope. To finish the day, we had good fishing for yellowfin tuna associated with common dolphin. Most of the fish are 15-20 pounds with a few smaller and a few bigger. We had plenty of troll fish and cedar plug was the hot lure. A few fish were caught on anchovies and some fish on artificial lures.
If you are coming out in the near future make sure you have lures that are chrome and heavy. Megabait is the hot lure. Also a few fish were caught on plastics, so you might bring some. Don’t forget hooks and small sinkers for anchovies. The weather was great and the fishing is great as well!.
