Hey anglers: Just a few yellowfin tuna for our efforts today, but everyone was pretty tired after the over-200 yellowtail day yesterday anyway! p.s. Harvey Schroeder just can’t lose! He was on his free trip and then picked up this 26.4# yellowtail to win the jackpot as well!

Hello anglers, Our long run to San Benitos island paid off today…275 miles is a long way to go on a three- day trip, fortunately we have the capability to make that long run. You only get a half day fishing and thankfully we made the most of the time we had. We arrived around 130 pm and by 430 we had a limit of yellowtail It was great fishing and all methods were working. The primary method was flyline sardine on 30 or 40 pound mono. There were fish caught on the surface iron, yo-yo iron and a few on dropper-loops. The grade of the fish was mixed with the average being 18 to 20 pounds. Everyone had a great time and plenty of fish. The weather is great and we are currently heading back up to the northwest to try for some yellowfin tuna offshore tomorrow. More then, Capt Art

Harvey Schroeder brought a friend fishing last year and qualified for our SONAR program. He received a small gift on the trip, but won the whole enchilada–a free 3-day trip in 2010 and a Shimano rod/reel. That’s why we say….Bring a friend and win!

Hello anglers, For our 1.5 day trip, we came 120 miles on reports of a few yellowtail on kelps and a few tuna on common dolphin. Unfortunately we didn’t find any kelps and found no tuna on dolphin. We ended up going in to the coast to try for some rockfish and fish a little, instead of driving around all day for nothing. We managed to catch around 80 rockfish, a mixture of red rock cod, ling cod, sheepshead and whitefish. The weather is calm and I think everyone enjoyed a few hours of fishing. The offshore scene is still unpredictable and so we are unsure of what we are doing next trip. Stay tuned, Capt Art

Sep 28-Mid-day report

September 2nd, 2010|Captain Mike's Blog|

Hello anglers, Here’s our mid-day report from Alijos Rocks: pretty steady fishing with a fish or two hooked almost all morning. We have 16 of the better-size tuna and 40 of the smaller-size tuna. Not bad fishing so far! We are hoping for the same action this afternoon, and if that happens, we will have a great day. The weather is incredible. It is calm and very little swell. It is impossible to get a kite out right now! More later, Capt Art

Bill Roecker reports, “The big schools of yellowfin tuna that began arriving last Friday drew Art Taylor and his 16 Searcher three-day anglers to try fishing in a tongue of warm water below Ensenada. ‘It was clean and 67.5 degrees,’ said Art, ‘and we had jig strikes over a 45-mile stretch on mixed grade tuna and skipjack. We also got some fish on kelps and bird schools on the first day when it was calm. The good fishing extended from about 95 to 130 miles south.’ The trip was sponsored by Accurate, who sent Gary Gillingham along as chartermaster, with 12 sets of loaner rods and reels from the factory. ‘They were BX-2 400 and 500 models,
